Amityville Horror Poster Analysis

The title is in a thin font filled in with the colour red, with the letter ‘Y’ dripping like blood. This connotes that there’s lots of blood and death in it as the letters seem designed especially so they put the observer in mind of blood.
Beneath the title is a tag line ‘watch em and kill em’ here we can see what role the man in the poster may take as a villan, because from this shot we can see he going towards the house therefore we presume the residents are being watched and now he is going to kill them.
The colours used are grey house, and slight use of low key lighting coming from behind the house towards the man making him stand out. The dark colours connotes a daunting atmosphere, whereas the bright light colours give off a different affect which is more lively and this could be emphasis on the man’s strength and also a sign of warning to the audience and residents.
The props and images is the Big, old fashioned house which surrounded by trees this is typical convention of a Horror movie. The man looks as if he is walking towards the house holding a weapon which looks as if it’s a gun this connotes violence. This setting implies that the main events will take place within the house.
The Target Audience are fans of Horror, and Michael Bay as it says at the top he is who produced the film, and beneath that is the title which says 'based on a true story'; this creates a sense of fear for the audience. The age rating has not been specified but i would presume its 15+.
